Manaslu

Manaslu

The Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) was established in 1997 with the primary objective of achieving conservation and sustainable management of the delimited area, which also includes Manaslu.
Manaslu also known as Kampunge or Kutan or Peak 30 is the 8th highest mountain, means "mountain of the spirit" and the word is derived from the Sanskrit word manasa, meaning "intellect" or "soul
Set in the northern Himalayan range in the Gorkha District of Nepal, Manaslu is a serrated "wall of snow and ice hanging in the sky". The three sides of the mountain fall in steps to terraces down below, which are sparsely inhabited with agricultural and seasonal yak herding in the higher pastures on the land.
The change in scenery as you rise higher, there is also a distinct change in culture. In the lower farming areas the people are Nepali of Aryan origins but as the trek progresses you move into the Nupri Region, where villagers are descendants of Tibetan immigrants.
