Namche Short Trek
Overview
Namche Short Trek is one of the most popular treks through the land of the Sherpa villages with views of the world’s great 8000-meter peaks. After a 35 minute scenic flight to Lukla, the trails follows the same course as the Dudh Koshi, the river of milk. The trek gradually climbs through forests of rhododendron and magnolia, pine forests, Sherpa villages, and Buddhist monasteries.
Namche Short Trek offers the mountains and villages of the Khumbu, wonderful mountain panoramas, and the interesting culture of the Sherpa people.
Namche Bazaar is a village in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Namche, located at 3440 meters, is the gate way to the high Himalaya. Namche Bazaar is the administrative centre for Khumbhu region. The village has many hotels and shops where one can make their stay more enjoyable and find anything required for trekking.
Since Namche is the first place on the Khumbu trek that is above altitude sickness threshold, most travelers prefer to spend at least two nights here in order to acclimatize. Despite the village’s popularity with trekkers, geographical restraints have contained its growth, and it remains a small settlement with no more than 60 dwellings. Namche has prospered from the tourist trade, and according to government statistics is the wealthiest district in Nepal, with 7 times the average national income and twice that of the capital, Kathmandu.
Day 01: Day of Arrival. Transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu.
Snow Leopard Trek representative will pick you up fromt the international airport and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Phakding
Depart Kathmandu via air, for Lukla (2,860 m) and a short trek to Phakding (2,623 m). The flight into Lukla is similar to the Everest View flight for mountain views.
Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar
The trail climbs gradually following the Dhudkoshi ( milky white) river and enters the Everest National Park at Jorsalle, then crosses the river and climbs steeply to Namche (3,440 m).
Day 04: Namche to Khumjung and back to Namche
Exploration around Namche’s vicinity and visit Khumjung. It is the another village near Namche and is a very strategic trading town for the upper Everest villages.
Day 05: Namche to Lukla
The trek from Monjo to Lukla is an easy down hill walk combined with a straightforward trail and a little uphill trail.
Day 06: Lukla to Kathmandu
35 minutes schedule flight to Kathmandu and international departure on the same day.
