The Royal Trek is one of the shortest treks that follow a shrub like path along the foothills of Annapurna, north of the Pokhara valley. The Royal Trek is so-named because Prince Charles and his 90-person entourage explored this route in the early eighties. This trek provides the opportunities for meaningful cultural experiences with the diverse mix of people and cultures that inhabit this region.
The journey of Royal Trek begins in the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara and passes through beautiful Gurung hamlets. During the trek, we are able to enjoy stunning views of the eloquently built hillside rice terraces, the magnificent Annapurna range, Machapuchhre, and the Langtang Mountain views. The trip finally ends at the scenic Begnas Lake, which is about 30 km west of Pokhara City.
The Royal trekking trip is recommended for beginners who are restricted by time from longer treks. This Royal Trek presents a true picture of uniqueness and allows us the chance to experience traditional lifestyles of the tribes whose ancient religious practices and traditions have remained unchanged for thousands of years. Compared to other trekking areas in Annapurna region, the royal trekking route is less crowded, so you get closer to nature, culture and lifestyle.
Day01: Arrival and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu
Day 02: Kathmandu–Bijayapur – Kalikastan
Day 03: Trek to Shaklung (1730m)
Day 04: Trek to Chisapani
Day 05: Trek to Begnas Lake. Drive to Pokhara
Day 06: Pokhara-Kathmandu by flight or by tourist bus
Day 07: Departure Transfer.
Day01: Arrival and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu
You will be met by snow Leopard Trek staff upon arrival at the international airport. He will greet and take you to your hotel for check in. This day we will have to make all necessary permits for the trek.
Day 02: Kathmandu–Bijayapur – Kalikastan
From Kathmandu to Bijayapur time takes 6-7 hrs drives. At the place of Bijayapur, the road leads through the rice field and it passes with very easy ascending hill to Kalikastan (1,370m). From Kalikastan one can see Annapurna range mountain views’ including Fishtail (6,996m).
Day 03: Trek to Shaklung (1730m)
From Kalikastan to Shaklung Mountain trail leads easy ascending and descending through the eight forests. Walking time takes about 5 hours.
Day 04: Trek to Chisapani
The place of Shaklung to Chisapani trekking, trail passes several villages through the descending and ascending mountain path. Walking time takes about 6-7 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Begnas Lake. Drive to Pokhara
From Chisapani, trail descends steeply on the stone, into a small valley and stream that leads Rupa Lake. Finally to Begnas Lake, trail ascending and descending. From Begnas Lake, one can cross Begnas Lake through the boating to Begnas Bazaar. After Begnas, drives back to Pokhara. Walking time takes about 5 hours.
Day 06: Pokhara-Kathmandu by flight or by tourist bus
After breakfast drive or fly back to Kathmandu. Drive will be around 7 to 8 hours or 25 minutes flight
Day 07: Departure Transfer.
