Journey to Druk-Yul is a 5-day tour that revolves around the historical and cultural highlights of central Bhutan.
Paro beckons you with promises of breathtaking natural sights, cultural richness and good accommodation; you can view Mount Chomolhari from Drugyel dzong, capture Paro’s incredible landscapes from Ta-Dzong and visit indigenous hospital art & craft school, National library, Royal goldsmith workshop and handicraft centers.
Thimpu remains synonymous with its colorful festivals, legendary monasteries, and coveted cultural sites. You can stroll around the local markets and see for yourself the everyday lives of Bhutanese people and their craftsmanship.
You can either walk or ride on horseback to Taktsang monastery, which epitomizes the religious belief of Bhutanese people. At the end of the journey, you will be left with a feeling that you have truly seen the real Bhutan up close.
We go on to travel through fertile valleys, scenic villages, and ancient histories in the city of Paro, the heartland of the Drukpa people. Look out for rare animals & plant species as you travel through stunning wooded valleys blooming with flowers, past imposing fortresses, serene monasteries & bustling markets in Thimphu, Punakha & Wangdiphodrang. Observe the unique atmosphere in the Land of the Thunder Dragon. This is an exploration of a vibrant culture, their clothing & artistic crafts, chilly spicy food, and the Buddhist culture that has been preserved in time.

Day 01 : Arrive Paro
The flight offers you beautiful view of mountains and landscapes. On arrival and after visa formalities you will be received by ITT Representative and transfer to Kichu Resort. If time permits s/seeing. Evening stroll around the market.
Day 02 : Paro Sightseeing
Visit the ruined fortress of Drugyel dzong which still attracts visitors due to the strategic location of the fort. The fort defended the Paro valley from the Tibetan invasion from the north in the early 17th century. On clear weather Mount Chomolhari 7320 meters can be seen towering over the dzong. Proceed through the beautiful valley to the watch tower or locally known as Ta-Dzong. It was housed into the National museum in the 1960s by the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The seven floors museum highlights various aspects of Bhutanese culture and history dating back to the 7th century. Late after noon drive 1 & 1/2 hours to Thimphu (54 Kms) which is the capital of Bhutan. Evening free time. Overnight at Hotel River view or similar.
NOTE: Kindly note that due to recent earthquake (18th September 2011) earth quake, Ta Dzong (Paro Museum) had been closed and shifted to exhibition hall just above the museum.
Day 03 :Thimphu sightseeing
visit the Memorial chorten built in the memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, 15 century Changangkha monastery and the new Drupthob nunnery temple. PM drive 3 hours to Wangduephodrang crossing the Dochula pass 3100 meters. On fine weather you will see the eastern Himalayan ranges including the highest mountain in Bhutan Mt.Gangar Punsum 7520 meters. The drive from the pass is all the way downhill dropping to the lower and warmer valleys of lobesa. Visit the market area. Overnight at Wangdi Kichu Resort.
Day 04 : Punakha sightseeing
AM drive 45 minutes to Punakha and visit the Punakha Dzong which served as an old capital of Bhutan. This remarkable fortress is built between two rivers and has survived many glacial floods and fire. Every year during the month of February a procession known as the Punakha Serda takes place to commemorate the victory over the Tibetans. Drive 4/5hrs to Paro via visiting the oldest building in Bhutan, the Simtokha Dzong. It now serves as a Buddhist university. Overnight Kichu Resort.
