Overview

Climbing Mount Everest is the ultimate mountaineering achievement. The mountain receives around 1000 summit attempts every year. Everest can be climbed both from the southern side in Nepal and the northern side Tibet.

Everest has fascinated mountaineers all over the world since European climbers discovered Everest when Tibet was opened to outsiders in the 1920s. During his lecture tour to the U.S. in 1923, George Mallory, a man who would later attempt an ascent of Everest, gave the reason behind his interest in Everest, quipping, ‘Because it’s there’. Unfortunately, Mallory and his companion Andrew Irvine disappeared high on the mountain in 1924, probably due to a snow storm similar to that documented by Jon Krakauer in his famous book Into Thin Air. Mount Everest was first summited in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary via the South Col.

Climbing Everest from the northern Tibet side is relatively easier and less costly than ascending from the southern Nepal side. While climbing Mt. Everest is the opportunity of a lifetime, expeditions encounter manyobstacles including high altitude, harsh weather conditions, and sheer exhaustion. After your arrival in Kathmandu Airport, you will be greeted at the airport by a staff from Snow Lewopard Trek who will transfer you to the hotel. After that, we ensure that your Tibet visa and other necessary documents for the Everest Expedition are in order. After 3 days, we drive towards the Nepal-Tibet border up to the Friendship Bridge. We take time to acclimatize with one night at Zhangmu (2300m) and two nights at Nylam (3750m). Then we drive to Tingri (4350m) where we spend two more nights for acclimatization. From there, we head to Everest base camp (5200m), also called the Chinese base camp.

Day 04: Drive to Zangmu (2350 m). Overnight in hotel.

Day 05: Drive to Nyalam (3750 m). Overnight in hotel.

Day 06: Nyalam, acclimatization day.

Day 07: Drive to Shekar (4250 m). Overnight in hotel.

Day 08: Shekar, acclimatization day.

Day 09: Drive to Base Camp (5200 m).

Day 10-12: At Base Camp

Day 13: To intermediate camp (6200 m).

Day 14: At Advanced Base camp (6500 m).

Day 15-53: Climbing Period.

Day 54: Back to Advanced Base Camp.

Day 55: Return to Base Camp.

Day 56: Cleaning Base Camp.

Day 57: Drive to Nyalam

Day 58: Drives to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.

Day 59: Free day in Kathmandu.

Day 61: International departure
