About Us
Snow Leopard Trek is managed by a dedicated team of 25 full-time professional Sherpa mountaineers, guides, and other field and administrative staff. These team members receive regular training in various aspects of mountain tourism, including destination selection, trekking routes, outdoor camp management, eco-trekking, and responding to high altitude sickness and its treatment, along with basic first aid. Ensuring the safety of our porters and high-altitude mountain guides is one of our top priorities.

We are proud to be the first company to receive the prestigious “Abraham Conservation Award” by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Snow Leopard Trek Pvt. Ltd. has established a reputable presence both in Nepal and internationally for providing high-quality adventure tour services characterized by reliability and professional excellence. We offer comprehensive services for both camping trekking and Tea House trekking.
A strong emphasis is placed on preparing meals with a focus on health, hygiene, and sanitation during treks. All vegetables, fruits, and utensils are carefully treated before preparation and consumption. All water is boiled and filtered to ensure safety.
Owned and managed by a family of Sherpas with nearly three decades of experience in mountaineering and trekking, the company is led by Mrs. Yankila Sherpa, a respected figure in the trekking industry. Yankila Sherpa has been associated with the Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN), the national body of trekking agencies in Nepal, and served as its President from 1996 to 1998, a significant achievement given the male-dominated industry at that time. She currently serves as an advisor to the TAAN executive body.
As a pioneering trekking company in Nepal, Snow Leopard Trek embraces corporate social responsibility, focusing on environmental awareness, promotion of microenterprises, education, cultural preservation, and health.

Environment Awareness Building:
Nepal’s mountain ecology faces challenges due to population growth, resource demand, and deforestation. Climate change also impacts the livelihood of Himalayan communities. Snow Leopard Trek contributes to ecotourism through several initiatives:
Eco Trekking Workshops:
Since 1996, we have conducted regular in-house Eco-Trekking workshops for our staff, covering basic environmental awareness, trail cleanliness, waste separation, and encouraging customers to minimize their carbon footprint. We also train tea house owners on environmental protection. Our Managing Director, Yankila Sherpa, played a key role in the successful Annapurna Conservation Area project.
T-HELP:
Since 2008, Yankila Sherpa has served as Vice President of the Trans Himalayan Environment and Livelihood Program (T-HELP) Nepal. This non-profit organization addresses environmental issues and improves livelihoods in the Himalayan region. Snow Leopard Trek collaborates with T-HELP to promote sustainable energy, income generation, and indigenous communities’ empowerment.

Microenterprise Promotion:
Yankila Sherpa has been involved with the Women Entrepreneurs Association (WEAN) since 1990 and co-founded the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) in 2003. FWEAN supports less privileged women by providing skill training, microcredit, and marketing skills. Under Yankila’s leadership, FWEAN secured financial support from UNHCR for income-generating programs for Bhutanese refugees in southeastern Nepal.
