The kingdom of Bhutan shares with Nepal the world's greatest concentration of mountains and living heritage of the Buddhists. The daily fifty minutes flight from Kathmandu to Paro can truly be described as a flight into fantasy where only a few highly qualified pilots are permitted to operate.  During the flight a firsthand close up view of the eastern Himalaya including Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchenjunga and other famous peaks become a reality. Flights between these two countries have made travel to the long isolated Dragon Kingdom of Bhutan a possibility.

This combo tour sees you 3 days in Kathmandu with guided sightseeing tours of the valley that covers six world heritage sites. They include Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, Bhoudanath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple and Swayambhunath Temple. These Durbar squares are culturally significant sites and are plazas opposite old royal palaces. They are full of ancient temples, idols, open courts, water fountains and much much more. Bhoudhanath is probably the ancient and the largest stupa in the world surrounded with Tibetan antic shops and Tibetan monastery.  Swayambhunath with its all seeing eyes of The Buddha overlooking the valley, perched on a hillock, is adorned with huge Buddhists religious figures and chortens.  Pasupatinath is the most prominent temple amongst the Hindus which draws large numbers of devotees from all across the world.

The second leg  of 4 or 5 days Bhutan tour is of stunning sceneries of rice terrace fields adorning the sides of magnificent mountains, pristine rivers that flow through the main towns of Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha, and unique two-story houses with brightly painted window designs.

The tour includes a visit to Ta Dzongs – an ancient watchtower which now houses the National Museum. The museum of Paro Rimpung Dzong is the center of civil and religious authority in this valley. Thimphu the modern capital of Bhutan is the only capital in the world without traffic lights!  Sightseeing Thimpu and Punakha includes National Memorial Chorten and National Library which are stocked with priceless ancient Buddhist manuscripts.  Folk Heritage Museum is dedicated to connecting people to the Bhutanese rural past through exhibition of items and artifacts used in rural households.

Punakha Dzong  is the winter seat of Je Khenpo and is the ancient capital of Bhutan. It is remarkably located between the rivers of the Mo (Female) Chu and Pho (Male) Chu. This Dzong is open to visitors only during the summers when Je Khenpo and this team of monks are in Thimphu.

The Paro valley tour visits the ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong  built in 1647 by the great Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal - the father and the unifier of medieval Bhutan. On a clear day views Mt. Jhomolhari -7,314 meters comes into an exceptional and unforgettable view. Further visits to Satsam Chorten and hike to Paro Taktsang - the Tiger’s Nest. This is where it is believe Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century.
